Imagine being held in prison. You can’t get out. Some of us have certainly experienced this within our own minds and know this hardship all too well. Fellow human beings are not only living in an internal prison, but also find themselves locked in cells and buildings on top of their inner turmoil. I have been told by prisoners in written letters that they are deeply lonely, afraid, ashamed, and drowning in despair. Imagine. This Prisoners Can Pause practice is one way any one of us can help those who are imprisoned. Maybe you can’t visit a prisoner, or maybe you could, or maybe you belong to a group that cares for prisoners and would be willing to share this Pause Practice. One prisoner wrote, “The Pause has changed my life.” Imagine helping others experience inner freedom and being freed up yourself on the inside.
