365 Pause Practices Day 345
Voices of Dispiritedness
pause for another way
Mary Shares
Sometimes the “voice of dispiritedness” will creep into my mind or come through the
words of another. It will say,
Why do you bother doing what you do with PAUSE? You’re not doing any good.
The world is not getting any better. You’re wasting your life.
Others have said,
You’re not supposed to focus on changing the world,
but changing your mind.
My response is, “PAUSE HEALS MY MIND and I have NO DOUBT that as I live from a
place of healing, healing is extended bringing healing to others. Sharing PAUSE with
people is not about trying to change their mind, their behavior, their value system, or
their world! It’s an opportunity for me to RECEIVE A CHANGE OF MIND, A CHANGE OF HEART.
Sharing PAUSE allows brokenness to be replaced with Wholeness,
within myself, and most assuredly within others.
I feel it and I see it in the smiles, tears, laughter, words, and actions
shared by others in our Pause encounters.
Still others in a dispiriting tone have said:
If it wasn’t for John (my life partner and co-founder of Pause),
you wouldn’t be able to do what you’re doing.
Funny, I hear when people say this, but when my mind is in
a state of grace, their words and tone don’t phase me! I can see that these words do not
come from the vision of the BIGGER PICTURE. I’ve been there!
IT IS NO ACCIDENT THAT
JOHN and I HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TOGETHER
TO DO EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE DOING!
. . . and that is grace.
Pause from taking the dispiriting ego voices seriously!
They’re not as wise as they may sound.
